Could slander lead the culprit to prison? Whether slander can lead to imprisonment depends on the jurisdiction and the specific circumstances. Generally, slander or oral defamation is primarily a civil matter, where the person who was slandered can sue for monetary damages. In some jurisdictions, slander can be a criminal offense, though this is rare.

Defamation, which includes both slander, spoken and written, is defined as a false statement, presented as fact, that harms another person’s reputation. Criminal charges for slander, or defamation, may arise in specific cases, such as when false rumors are spread about public officials like prosecutors.

It is important to note that even in places where slander can be a crime, it is more commonly pursued as a civil lawsuit.

Yes i believe it can, especially in situations where the person who is the victim decides to take legal actions against you.
This is a serious crime that may also lead to killing the person who spread the slanderous attack without basis. Many were killed in my country for slander, and those killers were never caught, perhaps under-the-table criminals, meaning, supported by a big fish in politics.

slander is spoken, but it's harmful and false statement about another person or party and they're illegal. Defamation is a civil offense. That means you can't go to jail for it, but you can be sued in civil court and made to pay money to the person who sued you
