According to the report, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has declared that all weapons in Lebanon must come under exclusive state control by 2025, stressing that the process will involve direct dialogue with Hezbollah. In an interview with The New Arab, Aoun ruled out any Hezbollah-specific military unit but said its members could join the army if they met national criteria. He also rejected external pressure, saying there would be no negotiations with Israel “at this stage” and called on the US to instead press Israel to withdraw from disputed territories.
Meanwhile, Israeli drone strikes have continued in southern Lebanon, killing a senior Hezbollah commander, with the UN reporting at least 71 civilian deaths since a ceasefire began in November.
It will never happen for Israel to withdraw from the disputed territories. The captives are not yet returned. PM Netanyahu is not dumb. It might only be a propaganda of the new president in Lebanon.
