According to the report, North Korea's recent decision to send troops to assist Russia is driven by the need to modernize its aging air force. Reports indicate that Kim Jong-un aims to acquire modern aircraft like Russia's Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets, with costs exceeding $50 million each.

The report said that this strategic move could suggest that the troop deployment is more of a business arrangement than a politically motivated decision. North Korea currently operates a fleet of around 500 outdated Soviet-era fighter jets, including various MiG models, and has faced challenges in procuring modern Chinese aircraft.

Consequently, it has turned its attention to Russia for military support. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that North Korean soldiers might soon engage in combat against Ukraine, citing intelligence that indicates their training in Russia and the likelihood of their deployment between October 27 and 28.

The report added that while the precise role of North Korean forces remains uncertain experts believe that their presence may not significantly alter the conflict dynamics. This development raises concerns about deepening military ties between Moscow and Pyongyang as they work to counter Western influence.
