Some businesses prefer to have very young staff team. That's because the younger people have more energy and innovation. But it also has disadvantages. What do you think are the disadvantages of having a young staff team?

I once was a young and promising worker, and have grown to be one of the older co-workers who has helped out some of the new up-and-comers, and I can tell you what impressed me, which has been similar to what my wife tells me is her experience. I’m in industrial maintenance and automation design, and she is a Registered Nurse, so it might seem, on the face of it, like they would be different, but our experience of what we like to call new grad syndrome has been remarkably similar.

Experience is near zero. Reckless and immature behaviours which can detrimental to the company or organization.

I’d say the main downsides are inexperience and impulsiveness. Young staff can innovate but may not always foresee consequences. They might leave jobs more often, which can hurt continuity. Also, learning curves are steeper, so training takes time. Balancing youthful energy with experienced guidance usually makes the team stronger overall.
