Disadvantages of having a small business team?

Almost all of my experience is in working in startups or newly started projects. I think I know how to answer this question correctly. During the years, all the different organizations I was part of had a different funding level, but almost all were underfunded. Some of them were pretty good in optimization. They achieved some progress with nearly 1000 times fewer resources than organizations with similar products. It was challenging but rewarding.

There are benefits of having small teams for your business. You would be able to manage them. But I know that small teams also have disadvantages. What are the disadvantages of having a small business team? What are the constraints?
It's work load. When work load increases a small team comes under stress and work quality decreases.

When people work under pressure because of huge workload, it is inevitable that they won't give the highest efficiency.

The first disadvantage, which is the most obvious, is that being small means fewer people, which means more tasks for fewer people, so it is more work and can be more dense. Depending on what your company is about, it can be acceptable or almost impossible, because there are companies that if you do not have enough employees, you cannot establish the company correctly or work correctly.

I’d say the biggest downside is workload stress. Each team member handles multiple responsibilities, so any absence hits hard. Also, you might miss out on different ideas or skills that a bigger team would bring. Communication is easier, sure, but growth and scaling can be tricky without adding more people strategically.
