One of the things that most people fear to do is to fire someone. Just last Saturday, I had to fire someone from a business that I am managing, just because he didn't turn up for work.

Is it easy for someone to just fire a staff who has erred

I have a staff who didn't report to work but I didn't fire her. He had strong reason, he was sick and went to the doctor and he showed me his medical certificate. It's hard to fire a worker if the cause isn't administrative.

That's a genuine situation. You would be wicked and ethically wrong to even think of firing such a staff. But if a staff misbehaves grossly, I would fire you without looking at your face.

When I was working full time, the company I worked for had a standard procedure to firing a staff. When a staff misbehaved or made a serious mistake, the company issued warnings to him/her. S(he) would be fired if there was no improvement. However, for cases of fraud, the staff was fired immediately.

I have been manager at different organisations and I have to say with my nature, a staff should just make sure that his actions or inactions is not what is keeping my goal back. If it is and the staff does it twice, I would fire such a staff.

You're right, my staff needs my understanding. It's also hard to train a new one. Money is involved.
