I only hire an accountant to compute and file for my taxes including the taxes of my staff. It takes time to go to the BIR office. I am also working and having hectic schedules.
Generally small companies do not employ professional accountants, because the company has to pay high salaries, but small companies can employ bookkeepers, to record all their transactions. I only run a small offline business and do not need an accountant.
I do not have an online business. But I think for small companies, there's no need to hire a professional accountant. Just get a part-time bookkeeper and engage the service of an accountant firm to file the tax return for you.
Online businesses in my country are taxes free for small businesses owners only those big timers are sanctioned to pay taxes and they hire accountants to do the computations.
I don’t think it’s necessary to hire an accountant for my small online business at this time. If my business grows in the future, I might consider it. Good thing, my aunt is an accountant, so I could either get her help for free or at a reasonable rate. Hehe
