I think in India it's not anymore. Websites try to use teachers as marketing professionals which is just ridiculous. I earned well a few years back being an online English language teacher but I don't find any good opportunities now.

You may not believe me when i say this but in my country a language teacher makes a lots of money, they ask you from 7000 ETB to 10,000 Birr to teach you English language.

Yes I believe this is lucrative, it would even be more lucrative if you are doing this in a foreign country.
