For me, my circle and l don't recognise the celebration of birth dates. For us we do think that doing that is a wastage of time and resources for nothing. What is view on that?
When it comes to birthday celebrations, I don't do anything grand, just have cake, something to eat and drink for myself and my family and probably one or two friends that's all.
My family usually celebrate my birthday. They'll take me out for dinner and buy a birthday cake. Senior family members give me lucky money. I do not need to spend any money to celebrate my own birthday.
Me and y family's birthday celebrations are followed every year without fail. We always do different celebrations but one thing that remains constant is that we always buy each other birthday gifts.

I always celebrate my birthday every 4th of July. I do spend for my family and they too celebrate their birthdays. We can celebrate simply not lavishly.
In my current country, it looks like lavishing money is a must. Expensive birthday parties are the rule (despite this is a third world country). I strongly prefer to not celebrate and spare my money for a rainy day.
