Who lives in the northern side of the world, usually need only a fan during the Summer. We who live in a tropical or subtropical country, may need air conditioning appliances too. We have one at home in the smallest room because my husband deemed it necessary (there are cold years, when we face an eternal Autumns in a row, but when such a similar weather stops, it happens we face a 53॰ temperature and the sensation is 60॰ during days in a row. More than me, my husband can't stand such a hot season, despite being a native Latin American (our fan doesn't help him).

We don't have air conditioning at home, so we make use of fan. It would be awesome to have an air conditioner though our side is pretty hot these days.

It's hot in India too but an air conditioner doesn't suit me. So I use an air cooler.

My doctor also said air conditioning doesn't suit me, but I rarely use it for myself (only when our fan doesn't help me as it doesn't help my husband) and always in the low mode (no heavy cooling).

I do not use air conditioner since I sometimes get a cold due to the low temperature of the airconditioner. The power consumption of the aircon is also higher, I prefer using a fan.

Why is air conditioning not good for you? You can set it in low or fan mode. If it's so hot you can place it far from you not inside your bedroom.

I feel suffocated in a closed air conditioned room.

Yes, it consumes at least 5 times, compared to a fan. So it's good to switch on the air conditioning only when it's strictly necessary. Never in a cold season. Nor when it's just warm, if you risk a cold.

In Brazil, the north and northeast are the hottest regions of the country, I have lived in the state of MS where the temperature reached 40 degrees with a feeling of more heat, it is horrible, but after a while the body gets used to the place, nowadays I don't know if I could handle this feeling again.

Yes, I know, even since my move from abroad I only have lived in the southeastern area. I have been told in the north-eastern area it may stop to rain during years and there's an eternal heating. In the south and southeast, the hot periods are temporary and interrupted by heavy raining and flooding, at the point the temperature drops near to zero (in the south).
