Some people like to protect their brand, so they will try to use multiple domains for their website. For instance, if they are using dot com for their website, they will also try to get dot net, or other popular extensions. Have you ever done something like this? Well, I once had a couple of domains for my personal website, I was using dot com, dot info, dot net and dot xyz as well. However, later I dropped all domains except dot com.
