Does a smartphone battery still drop when on standby mode?

If a smartphone is on but not in is use. That implies that the phone is just locked and kept. No app is currently running and data connection is off. Is the battery level still expected to drop after like two hours on that mode? If it does, what would cause the battery to drop?

Batteries use to discharge even when they are in idle mode ie when they are not doing any work. According to science, energy must flow from more dense environment to less dense environment. This rule is not exceptional to phone battery.

The battery would still drop by maybe one, two or three percent when the phone is in idle mode for two hours. Just being on is enough battery usage for it to drop one bit.

Yes even in standby mode the smartphone battery would still drop. The difference is it will be extremely slow.

Keeping my smartphone overnight without using it and everything turned off, I always wake to see about a 3 to 4 percent drop in battery.

Apps do not entirely stop working when the phone is on idle mode. They still do. Only few apps though. And they take power from the phone.

For me l can say that a good smartphone should not be expected to drop as long as the phone is not being used. I think the fake phone

Even if you leave your phone unused some apps continue to run silently. These apps are the ones that drain your battery quickly without you realizing it. Important to turn off apps you're not using to prevent your battery from draining quickly. This will help your phone stay charged for longer throughout the day.

If you leave a smartphone at 100% for a day, you should expect that it would drop to about 95% by the time you come back.
