For a business that has lost it's positive reputation, because of a scandal or a controversy, would rebranding the business totally help it to recover from that negative reputation to have a positive reputation? If so, how is such a rebrand going to be done?
There are many causes that can make a business reputation negative, if there is a serious case such as a violation of the law or fraud against customers, of course it will take a very long time even though the brand has changed,
Just hope that they are not people that are out to push the narratives from the negative reputation publicly. Even a rebrand can't help the business in such circumstances.
Rebranding does help a business which has suffered from a bad reputation. But it takes a long time to build the trust of customers. Rebranding should pair with good products and great customer service.
