Every business has it's peak and off season. People that sell food and food items struggle with sales within the first few days or weeks of the year. That's because potential patrons have ether stocked up during Christmas or new year celebrations or most patrons have traveled.

Not just food business but businesses that have to do with general demands always slow down a bit after the new year festivities.

After major holidays like Christmas and New year, many people stock food items at home. As a result, there's often a decrease in demand for food products immediately following these holidays.
That's the exact situation that is happening in my country right now. People still have the excess of the food they had stocked up during the Christmas period.

This pattern seems to be universal across different countries. Make sense though, as people tend to buy in bulk before the holidays and then have leftovers that last for a while. It must be tough for food producers and retailers to deal with these ups and downs in demand.
