A customer came to patronize me today and I called him boss. He said I shouldn't call him that but I should be calling him his name. I told him I don't know his name. He was very furious. He said he has been patronising my business for a year now, and I don't know his name. He said that I don't have personal touch with. U customers.

Does not knowing a customer's name imply I don't have personal touch with the customer?

If the customer has been patronizing your business for a year and you don't know his or her name, that's bad and can make the customer feel so bad.

When you can address a customer by their names, it shows that you really value the customer and you are interested in building personal relationship with the customer.

Using the customer name feels more friendly and welcoming. You can use the customer name to greet and also welcome the person.
Absolutely. Using someone's name? It just feels good. Like you're seen. It turns a chat into a real hello. Makes all the difference.
