Does meritocracy truly exist?

Is success really the result of individual effort, or is the system so unequal that meritocracy is just an illusion? I’d love to hear different viewpoints.

As of me meritocracy does not apply here in my country. For instance l really worked harder and passed exams in school but today l am very unsuccessfully for sure.

it doesn't exist for me because life sometimes can just be hard. You push forward but you get pulled back just like that

I believe when a person truly works hard, and is consistent in whatever they do, it will lead to success.

You will be entitled to a merit based on your efforts. How could you merit spending if it wasn't your effort? It will be a shame.

Who said that you are unsuccessful? Stop using your mouth to bring failure to your doorstep. Oir thoughts and words can really affect our life in whatever form we project it.

I think Meritocracy is a system of government that reward people based on merit. Meritocracy is still practice but in small circle in our society. For example,in academic excellence, the best student get automatic employment.
