I don't think there is anything wrong telling your staffs the challenges your business is facing, but at the same time, you have to be sure they are mature enough to understand what is happening.
 
As a businessman, you really need to tell about business challenges, especially to get solutions to problems, whether it's about production, marketing, customers, etc. Business people must also consider the opinions of your staff. Staff must also understand business problems so that they can participate in advancing the business.
