One of the things that we are commonly told in my place is that the vibration from my phone can produces harmful radiation which can cause severe damage to health. We are told not to keep our phones close to our bodies.

Is this assertion true? Does smartphone vibration have a harmful effect on our health? Why do phone manufacturers put it in the first place if it does?

Vibrations from mobile phones are completely mechanical and do not pose any danger to humans because they don't carry any radiation. It is the radioactive energy from mobile phones that are even under research to see if they pose any imminent danger to humans.

Like Fidelia mentioned, the vibrations produce mechanical energy and are harmless. The microwave radiation from the smartphones can be harmful since the radiation may damage the cells in the body.
