I've been reading a lot of stories about people who used to work in the corporate setting and then became online freelancers, and how their interpersonal skills suffered. They grew awkward in social settings when they began working from home. They are now more likely to ignore others. LOL. Has it ever happened to you?

Working from home keeps you glued to your laptop and staying connected physically with the outside world becomes difficult but then we can quizz out some time for socialization.
I don't think so. I communicate with my friends and relatives. The only effect is that i have only limited number of friends. I combine online work with normal physical work.
In my case I don't, because I try to find the time to go out with friends or keep in touch with them and continue socializing outside the virtual world, the people who simply focus on work and nothing else are the ones who usually end up like that.
It is not easy striking that balance between online work and inter personal relationships. That's the reason I make the most of the little time I have to relate with people in my workplace.

That is good to know. It depends on the person, to be honest. Some can be awkward in social settings, especially if they have been working online for many years.

Yes, especially if you are focused on your online job. I have been working online for over a decade and I must admit that I have a hard time socializing with people at times. LOL. I live in the province and most of my friends live 5 to 6 hours away from here.

I believe this can only happen when you completely cut yourself off. Though in my case am an introvert by nature so I normally find socializing stressful but then again I still try to come out of my shell most of the time and I am trying to be more confident in my social skills and appearance.
To be honest there are so many factors that can make one be in isolation from the world. I have felt this before but still, we need both the physical world and the virtual world to strive. The truth though is that I do not have a lot of friends.
Government agencies, top tech, internet companies are extremely ruthless in criminally defamation, financial fraud, slavery and cybercrime on online workers, investors working from home due to which they avoid interacting with others.
