SSL secures your website by encrypting and decrypting your website data. Even though SSL are primarily paid feature, there is a company called Let's Encrypt that offers free SSL. Does your web host offer support for free certificate from Let's Encrypt.

I haven't paid for ssl ever, as let's encrypt is available for free with my host and was available for free on my previous hosting providers. There isn't a reason why anyone should be paying for SSL.

Unless, they'd rather spend the money on it.

Free SSL is DV certificate right, what if you need other kind of certificates, for instance EV certificates. Do you think DV certificates will be enough for all sorts of sites, for instance multi vendor ecommerce site.

Because there is premium version of SSL they should pay for SSL. There isn't a reason why anyone broke should be paying for SSL is understandable. But if you have money you may opt for premium SSL.

They’re all the same. They don’t have any extra benefits if you pay for a premium SSL. You can run lets encrypt if you’d like and be totally fine.

Yes, Let’s Encrypt only offers Domain Validation (DV) certificates. DV certs are great for most sites, including many ecommerce stores, because they encrypt traffic and are free and easy to manage.

However, if you want Extended Validation (EV) certificates—which show the company name in the browser bar and provide higher trust signals—Let’s Encrypt doesn’t provide those. For a multi-vendor ecommerce site, DV certs are often enough technically, but some businesses prefer EV to boost customer confidence and signal legitimacy.

So, DV is fine for encryption and basic trust, but EV or Organization Validation (OV) certs can add an extra layer of assurance, especially for bigger, trust-sensitive sites.
