From Manila, Philippines, report, Nonito Donaire Jr. made a triumphant return to the ring Sunday (PH time), beating Andres Campos of Chile via technical decision to claim the World Boxing Association (WBA) interim bantamweight belt at Casino Buenos Aires in Argentina.

The report said: Fighting for the first time since 2023, the 42-year-old Donaire sustained a cut above his right eye after an accidental clash of heads in the ninth round, prompting the referee to stop the bout and refer to the scorecards. All three judges scored in favor of Donaire, 87-84, 87-84, and 88-83.

“The Filipino Flash” looked sharp throughout the fight, landing his signature counterpunches and utilizing his height and reach advantage. Donaire (43-8, 28 KOs) is now in line to face the winner of Antonio Vargas vs. Daigo Higa for the full WBA bantamweight belt.
