Donations Based Monetization

One of the simplest ways to monetize your site is through donation. You can add donate me button that links to your payment method on your home page. Unlike with ad companies, there are no requirements to fulfill. This will work if you have a lot of well wishers. When I started my first self hosted blog, I used this method and managed to earn enough money to pay for hosting and domain renewals.

This is a good idea but like you said it will only work if you have a lot of well wishers. I would try it out soon though.
