According to the report, Kremlin Aide Yury Ushakov, while responding to Zelenskyy's idea to hold a referendum in Donbas, said that all of the region belongs to Russia. Donbas is Russian [territory], Ushakov said, stressing that all of Donbas is Russian, citing a provision in the Russian Constitution.
The report stated that on December 11, Zelensky said the question of territory as part of a peace plan for Ukraine should be answered through a referendum. Meanwhile, Ukraine said on December 12 that it struck two Russian vessels in the Caspian Sea for transporting military cargoes between Iran and Russia.
The report added that Ukraine’s special forces said that the ship was targeted near the Russian republic of Kalmykia. The vessels were identified as the Composer Rakhmaninoff and the Askar-Sarydzha, which Kyiv said are under US sanctions over their role in moving weapons. Iran and Russia have expanded military and logistical cooperation since Moscow’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
