tense but ultimately peaceful standoff occurred on the Nairobi-Embu highway near the Kamburu area as a herd of 15 elephants, believed to have strayed from the adjacent Kiambere area, blocked the road for over four hours. Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) rangers and community scouts worked diligently to gently steer the herd back towards the conservation area using their vehicles and noise deterrents. "The elephants were likely searching for water. Our team ensured the safety of both the animals and motorists," explained a KWS spokesperson.
