EJ Obiena receives a P500K cash incentive from Manila City and the city government compensated, EJ, the world's top 2 pole vaulter. Apart from this money, the national government through President Bongbong Marcos also rewarded EJ Obiena with one million pesos.

All those athletes in the Paris Olympics who failed to bring a medal to the country were awarded one million pesos each of them. Another cash incentive to be given by EJ is from the Chinese school where he graduated from. The time he won the silver medal his alma mater rewarded EJ with five million pesos.

It was Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna who handed the incentive to Obiena on Wednesday. The city mayor said: " We congratulate Ernest John Obiena on his best Olympics finish so far in his still young athletics career. The 4th place finish was his best effort at that high-pressure moment. "

Congrats to him and other receivers. it is a good one to be rewarded with cash gift when you have done something great like this.
Yes, mate. I like our president for being so thoughtful to the athletes despite 19 of them didn't receive a medal. They received one million pesos each. One million is $22, 000.

That's how it should be mate. The president needs to show concern and motivate even those that didn't win for future sake

That is right and it is the first time to happen, In the past only $ 6,000 athletes received but they had huge allowances while in practices.
