My friend was given a appointment letter from a new job he has just landed. In that employment letter, there is a clause that the employer reserves the right to terminate the contract without notice. What does that imply? Would you sign that kind of contract?

Usually, if an employer wants to fire an employee, s(he) should give the employee certain days of notice. Unless the employee committed a crime such as stealing company secrets and give them to competitors, then the employer can ask the employee to leave immediately. I think the Clause aims to protect the employer.

Most companies usually let you know they are letting you off either a month before the actually date or weeks before the date, but with this contract, the employer has the right to fire you anytime without informing you about it.
