According to the report, Turkey's President Erdogan said he wants the Islamist-led rebel advance in Syria to "continue without incident," believing their goal is to capture Damascus.

However, Erdogan raised alarm about some fighters in the rebel alliance led by Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham. Erdogan, who backed Syrian rebels after the civil war erupted in 2011, had recently taken a more conciliatory line.

The report said that The Turkish president said he never received a response from Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad to hold Russian-proposed reconciliation talks. Turkey also confirmed that it would meet Russian and Iranian foreign ministers for talks on the escalating civil war in Syria in Qatar on December 7.

The people are getting their freedom at last! Assad should step down and let the people choose for themselves without his repression. I wish them well, at last a possible future and better times.

Iran wants Assad gone too. Russia and Iran are both tired of Bashar's games, having refused their insistence to hold talks with Turkey since 2023, even after Erdogan's been signalling rapprochement since 2022- One viewer said.
