The report stated that the Golden Dome system is an Israeli Iron Dome-inspired capability that combines interceptors and radars to defend the country against air and missile threats. It said that under Ericsson’s framework, emerging 6G technologies are tailored to defense and homeland security missions. Its offerings include virtualized enterprise architectures, open radio access network-ready systems, and integrated artificial intelligence and machine learning tools.
The report stated that the corporation leverages the American supply chain in its ventures, including the USA 5G Smart Factory in Texas, as well as the capabilities of its Swedish parent company, Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson, to provide resilient digital infrastructure for national security customers.
Currently, the firm is exploring Integrated Sensing and Communications, a dual-use technology for locating and monitoring unmanned aerial systems while enhancing anti-drone missions.
In addition, Christopher Ling, CEO at Ericsson Federal, explained that the SHIELD award underscores the company’s commitment to strengthening US and allied deterrence, defending borders and citizens, and securing digital sovereignty. The CEO added that winning a prime position on the SHIELD contract vehicle is a defining moment for Ericsson Federal as it supports the Golden Dome for America initiative. He said that their core mission is to improve network resiliency because, in this modern world of AI, robotics, and cyber, network security is national security.
