Today is "Shiv Ratri" in India. Myth goes that on this day Lord Shiva and Godess Parvati got married and is thought as an auspicious day to marry. People fast on this day, keep away throughout the night and offer prayers the next morning to please Lord Shiva and get his blessings. I too have fasted and have finished my prayers and am going to take my dinner. I have been doing this fasting since my early 20s.
