According to the report, a father "violently squeezed" his 9-month-old daughter, killing her, but told police the death was due to "tossing her in the air and catching her."
According to a press release from the Gwinnett County District Attorney's Office, 29-year-old Khaliq Woods brought his 9-month-old daughter to the hospital, who was already deceased when he arrived. Woods was reportedly the only person who was with the infant since the child's mother dropped her off the day before the incident.

The report said that authorities reported that an investigation into Woods' phone found that he searched "symptoms of broken ribs in children" at least 9 times at around 2 a.m. The child's autopsy revealed "multiple rib fractures, a lacerated liver, and bleeding and swelling of the brain."
"Evidence introduced at trial showed that the child's injuries were consistent with being violently squeezed and shaken," the release said. Woods was found guilty and convicted of two counts of felony murder, one count of aggravated battery, and one count of first-degree cruelty to his daughter.
