Federal government of Nigerian announced a ministry-wide prayer and fasting session to invoke divine intervention for food scarcity

Nigeria government should be ashamed of themselves! God have blessed Nigeria beyond proportion and we can not be able to feed ourselves. We have fertile land and have experts in agricultural engineering, but the government can not empower those peoplem

It's just appalling that we have the resources and man power but people in the helm of affairs are not using their brains.

This is one of the legacies of European colonalism, to wit the fact that when most of the European powers left Africa they left them essentially as is and whenever you have a vacuum chaos mostly occurs (I think the only countries in Africa outside of North Africa that escaped this were Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria and South Africa).

My suggestion would be to lower regulation and bring in more innovation/ingenuity/entrepreneurship; if the people there are anything like the Nigerians I've crossed paths with over the years Magnus they should be able to right things there. Direct foreign aid doesn't help and often hinders things by fostering dependency and should be avoided here whenever possible.

The truth of the matter is the Nigerian government know what needs to be done but they are just simply after their gain alone.

That's what I said above, @eLdavis.....
