First Lady og Nigeria , Senator Oluremi Tinubu has urged market women across Nigeria to avoid unfairly increasing food prices as the festive season approaches. She made this known at the 2024 Ebonyi Women’s Day Celebration in Abakaliki.

she appealed for restraint in price hikes, emphasizing the importance of affordability for all Nigerians during the yuletide.

She said “With the Yuletide season fast approaching, I want to plead with all our market women to refrain from unfair hikes in the prices of food items during the festive season,”

All these urging at the end of the day would not really produce any results because these women won't listen.
These women don't have much control over food prices! This showed that the first lady don't know anything about economics and what influences price movement.

It is the increase in price of petroleum that have affected the price of goods in the market. Market women don't have control over the cost of foodstuffs! Do you expect the women to sell below the cost price! Let the government find way to reduce the price of petrol.

Exactly, which is why I said they won't listen because it's not their fault. The price of things can't be the same when they are spending more on transportation to get these things ,or they are spending more on buying the raw materials. Like you said, it only shows the first lady has no idea of what's going on.
