Afghanistan's main airport is at a halt as the country deals with the aftermath of the Taliban government's statewide internet outage. The Taliban has yet to provide a formal rationale for the decision, which took effect on Monday, but has stated that it will last until further notice. The UN stated that it posed a significant danger of harm. Communication within Afghanistan and with the rest of the world has been badly disrupted, as have crucial services such as banking and payments, as well as access to online education, which is a lifeline for many women and girls. According to one resident, Kabul airport was "nearly deserted" with no evidence of planes entering or leaving.
