The north Indian state of Punjab suffered flooding and torrential rains that have affected over 354,000 people and claimed at least 30 lives. After rivers and reservoirs swelled to almost dangerous levels, authorities declared all 23 districts in the state to be affected by flooding. Approximately 20,000 people have been evacuated from low-lying and flood-affected areas, and hundreds of relief camps have been established to give the impacted families a place to stay and basic amenities. Bhagwant Mann, the chief minister of Punjab, urged the nation to "stand by the state" and said that these floods were the worst the state had experienced since 1988.
