According to the report, Jihadists aligned with the Islamic State group ambushed Nigerian security forces in northeastern Borno state, killing two soldiers and two anti-jihadist militia members, sources said Saturday.

The report stated that fighters from Islamic State-West Africa Province (ISWAP) opened fire on Friday with heavy guns on a motorcycle convoy of Nigerian troops, anti-jihadist militia, and local hunters on patrol in the Damboa district, according to a military source and a security report.

These terrorists were targeting the Nigerian security forces; they were ambushed.

In addition to the report, the jihadist violence has killed more than 40,000 people and displaced around two million people in the northeast since it erupted in 2019.

The conflict has spilled into neighboring Niger, Cameroon, and Chad, leading the region to launch a military coalition to fight the jihadist groups.

From my perspective, the situation in northeastern Nigeria is truly alarming and demonstrates the severity of terrorism in the region. The jihadist ambushes against security forces and civilians show that these groups are willing to continue sowing chaos and destruction, regardless of the human cost. The violence has caused irreparable harm to thousands of families, displaced millions, and generated a massive humanitarian crisis. The regional response, forming a military coalition, is a step in the right direction, but combating these groups also requires long-term political and social solutions. The international community should pay closer attention and provide more assistance to stabilize the area and support the victims. In the meantime, insecurity remains a reality affecting the entire region, and this is causing widespread concern.

President Tinubo should not sleep. He must resolve the insurgency cases in Nigeria. I pity the teacher who was killed defending the students. It is disheartening, 25 of the students were abducted by the bandits. How will Tinubo solve this?
