The report said that explosions were heard over Gaza City in the early hours of March 18 as Israel’s military carried out extensive strikes on Hamas targets in the Palestinian enclave. Ambulances were seen leaving Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, with medics reporting casualties from one of the most intense attacks since the January 19 ceasefire. A senior Hamas official accused Israel of breaking the ceasefire agreement. The Israeli army did not provide details, but Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office said the military had been instructed to "take strong action against the Hamas terrorist organization."
