According to the report, KNDS Deutschland has been commissioned to produce 48 Boxer vehicles for the German Armed Forces. The 352‑million-euro ($409-million) contract provides for the delivery of 38 Boxer heavily protected ambulances and 10 Boxer driver training vehicles, with an option to procure an additional 150 ambulances and 100 driver training vehicles. Deliveries under the contract are scheduled to commence in early 2028.
The report also stated that the order forms part of a larger 4.,5-billion –euro ( $5.25 billion) framework contract to supply 270 Boxer vehicles to Germany and the Netherlands. KNDS is executing the contract as a subcontractor to ARTEC, the original equipment manufacturer of the Boxer and a joint venture between KNDS Deutschland and Rheinmetall Landsysteme.
The report also said that the Boxer ambulance acts as the initial link in the medical rescue chain, delivering essential pre-hospital care for casualties. It features a variable mission module capable of accommodating a significant number of casualties, depending on the nature of their injuries, and can also deliver intensive care when required.
Additionally, the ambulance variant delivers the same high level of protection for its crew as the Boxer infantry variant, ensuring safety during operational deployments. The driver training vehicle is designed to train and certify personnel for operating the Boxer..
