Getting paid per task or per hour: Which do you prefer?

As a skilled person that provides a particular service, If you are being given an option to be paid per task or per hour, which one would you take?

What is your rate per hour and how much would you charge per task?

I will prefer pay per task so that i will have control over my time. Time is everything and must be guided jealously. It is not easy to say how much i can charge per task without know how complex or difficult the work is!

As the one doing the paying, it is easier to budget by the task, knowing that there are no additional costs. The pay should be as equitable as an hourly rate. The ownership is on the person doing the work and their discipline and productivity enable opportunity for more or less work…ie income.
