According to reports, gunmen on motorcycles attacked a community in western Niger, killing 22 people, the majority of whom were attending a baptism ceremony. A resident informed the French news agency AFP that 15 people were killed at the ceremony in Tillabéri, which borders Mali and Burkina Faso, before carrying on to kill seven more. "While people were celebrating a baptism ceremony, gunmen opened fire, causing death and terror," local human rights activist Maikoul Zodi wrote on social media.
