According to reports, hackers acquired personal information from more than 25,000 current and past BBC employees. Names and national insurance numbers were among the stolen information. The compromise occurred when the corporation's pension plan was targeted earlier this month. The BBC is taking the attack extremely seriously. The hackers' identities are unknown, although they were unlikely to have used ransomware. Victims have been urged to be more cautious. A representative for the BBC pension system verified that no bank account information, email addresses, or passwords were accessed. Both the BBC and the pension scheme have initiated investigations into the event. The spokesperson confirmed that the source of the hacking had been secured and that the BBC had addressed the issue right away.

How did they achieve this. This looks like an inside job. Nothing anyone can tell me
The advancement in internet technology is something else. There are softwares that are called phishing tools which can steal information easily.

Oh really I didn't know about that. Then one has to be very careful of the information one leaves online these days.

Hackers will always look for weaknesses to be able to enter institutions, be it the BBC, hospitals, banks, etc. they will steal user data and trade on the darkweb. The BBC is unlikely to be able to retrieve the stolen data unless they redeem it or buy it from the hackers.
