He wants to learn how to repair generators. Would it fly?

As far as Nigeria is concerned, it will definitely fly. A lot of young people don't want to work and always want to be rich doing all sort of dirty jobs like scamming people online, kidnapping, banditry and a whole lot of terrible source of livelihood! Tomorrow, artisans will be in high demand!

There is a good demand for the skills of repairing generators in my country. He almost would not lack work if he is good at what he does.
Yes it would fly in Nigeria and other developing countries where they need the support of another source of electricity supply

Any skill that one learns, if they are able to brand themselves well to sell, they would make good money from it. That is quite simple.
Yes you are right, especially if they are very good in it, they might even get others to refer them as well too.

Any skill you have, doesn't get wasted. Carpenters, barbers, masons, plumbers, electricians etc have a good demand here.
