Hire a staff for the heart they have. You can then train them to get skills.

For me, this implies that I would hire a sincere and hardworking person with no skills, and train them to become skillful.

And I would not hire a very skillful person with a terrible character and insincerity.

The thing is that one can easily train someone on skills, but it is almost impossible to train a on character.

Personally, it is always attitude over aptitude when I want to hire a staff for my business. That has helped me to avoid having toxic staff.

You have a point there though, it will be so bad to have a skilled staff but they are not willing to work.
