Random thought that popped into my head today, and I'm genuinely curious to hear what you all think (and hopefully, no one has first-hand experience with this!).

If you were to spill the same temperature of hot liquid on yourself, say, a cup of 180°F (about 82°C) hot water versus a cup of 180°F hot milk, which do you think would cause a more severe burn?

My gut reaction is that hot milk might be worse, maybe because of the fats or proteins in it that could potentially "stick" to the skin more, or perhaps retain heat differently? But then, water is also incredibly efficient at transferring heat.

Has anyone ever heard a definitive answer on this? Or maybe there's some science behind it that I'm totally missing? Let's discuss!
