Business negotiations more often than not always end in deadlocks and stalemates at the first instance. And having to renegotiate takes time. How can parties in a business negotiation come to a consensus quickly, preferably at the first time of the negotiations? Is there anything that can be done before the negotiations proper to achieve that?

For this to work both parties needs to actually want a consensus, this way it would be a lot easier for both parties to come to an agreement.
I even think it would be too much to think of getting a consensus easily in a business negotiation. It takes convincing to get a consensus.

Exactly, it's not something that just happens, you need to give them a reason why they should want a consensus. If they don't get a reason they won't agree to it.

To be able to reach a consensus or mutual agreement in business negotiations, we need thorough preparation and do research on the parties invited to the negotiation, be friendly and listen carefully to the other party's offer, determine the negotiation deadline, prepare a contract, etc.
