How do companies access the investors bank account holders details?

Many companies have share holders and they are also issuing debentures and other securities which are held in demat form. These companies are accessing the demat account data to get information about the investors address, bank details. How often do companies access the investors demat account details, do they do it only when the investment is initially done?

I think they might gets it from the information that the investor provides when registering for the investment. This is why one needs to be careful when it comes to registering for anything whether online or not
