How do you cope with lack of sufficient currency denominations in business to give customers balance difference when they buy.

One of the problems I have faced in business is the shortage of a particular currency denomination to give to customers as balance when they buy. For instance, someone brought a $20 currency note to pay for a $10 item. I have to give him $10 as balance but it mostly happens that I don't have smaller denominations of currency to add up to $10 for the customer's balance.

I tell such customers to come back for their balance. Or if they're staying far, I just miss that particular sale.

In Nigeria you can get this little denominations from church or the bank. You don't have to keep missing sales because of change

The easiest way to solve this is by going to the banks. You can easily change your money to a smaller denomination.

This is the problem that electronic payment system solves. But that notwithstanding, if you need change, the best place to find it is in the bank. You can demand for any denomination that you want when you are withdrawing.
