How do you know prospects that won't buy so you don't waste time trying to sell to them?

It is not every customer that a business approaches that would buy the product that the company sells. Some would still not buy no matter the innovative sales tactic that you are using. How can I know a customer that won't just buy from the first approach so I don't waste time and strategy wrongly?
 
Some customers may not buy now but they are may buy tomorrow. I think you have to be proactive and think more of tomorrow. Every customer that approaches your business whether he is buying now or not should receive the same treatment. Business is all continous progress.
 
I think a customer or Client with the inability to make decisions is definitely a red flag, it shows they are not ready to purchase at the moment.
