How does product formula not leak to workers in the production department?

There are certain products that have special formula used by the company to run that production. These product formula are to be kept secret to avoid a competitor using it to imitate the company's products.

How can a product formula be protected from staff in the production team?

I think the owner of the business run this aspect on their own and don't allow others to know about it which is the best strategy to me
