How is cost of transportation in your country?

Transportation cost is a major part of our personal finances. And we don't have any option than to spend on them. How is cost of transportation in your country? I live in a city where transportation cost is moderate. What about yours?

One can pay $3 for a journey of 2 kilometres in my country. It just increased over the last six months.

The buses to move along my city cost 5 reais (less than 1 dollar) per route, no mind the distance. In other cities there could be different prices.
