How much money do you think you need to create and run a forum like this one (Discussion Bucks). YOu need money for a domain and hosting, you also need money for the forum software. You also need money for premium themes and addons to make your forum interesting. If you want to run a PTP forum you also need money to pay your users. If you use open source software instead of premium software, your cost of creating a forum might be relatively small.

True and the different domains also have different costs not to mention you have to renew them once in a while but the effort is worth it once it starts paying off.
 
Yes, different domain extensions have different proce attached. However, if you want to get a low priced domain always go for King com, it costs less than most domains available in the market and is also most trusted extensiom.

Running a forum site is not as easy as people think it is , it requires proper management, sacrifices and commitment especially in the first year of running it.
 
In my view, the most important consideration that a person aspiring to launch a forum site concerns whether she has sufficient money to pay posters.
Posts by users are the blood that runs forum sites. Failure to compensate posters in a timely fashion will thus translate to a sure death of a platform.
 
When starting a forum, it depends on what you wish to achieve from the start. I would say if you are looking to start a forum with only the basics in the beginning you would only need to worry about the hosting and the domain name unless, of course, you want to go with premium forum software in which case, that will also be an added expense.

If you are not looking for too much in the beginning, you could probably get away with just the domain and the hosting in the beginning and work your way up from there.
